Biography
Konrad Smoleński works combine punk rock aesthetics with the precision that is characteristic of minimalism. In his work, he often uses objects–both found and of his own construction–to create sound. By exploring the sonic potential of such objects and their relationship to electricity, sound waves and PA systems, the artist manipulates the sonic content and meaning that is often associated with rock music and contemporary culture. Selected solo and group exhibitions include presentations at the National Gallery of Art, Warsaw (2014), Venice Biennale (2013), Leto Gallery, Warsaw (2012) and Elephant Art Space, Los Angeles (2011). Smoleński lives and works in Warsaw, Poland and Bern, Switzerland.
