SUPERFLEX works within and outside traditional art contexts, collaborating with architects, designers, engineers, businesses and marketers, and their works are 'tools' that influence their social or economic contexts. In the past, the group has paid visitors to enter an exhibition; developed and marketed a new beverage; and produced a self-sufficient, portable bio-gas unit to provide energy for families in Africa and South America. Projects are often rooted in their particular location and invite participation from the visitor. SUPERFLEX works within and outside traditional art contexts, collaborating with architects, designers, engineers, businesses and marketers.

Solo exhibitions include It Is Permitted to Permit, Museum of Tomorrow, Rio De Janeiro (2016); Mori Museum, Tokyo (2014); The Corrupt Show and Speculative Machine, Jumex Art Museum, Mexico City (2013); Modern Times Forever, IHME Festival, Helsinki, Finland (2011); Free Sol LeWitt, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Netherlands (2010); Flooded McDonald’s, South London Gallery (2009) and Blackout (in collaboration with Simon Starling), Kunsthallen Brandts, Odense, Denmark (2009).

SUPERFLEX’s work has been shown in group exhibitions such as Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017); Sharjah Biennial 11 (2013); Print Out, Museum of Modern Art, New York (2012); TRACK, S.M.A.K., Ghent, Belgium (2011); Singapore Biennale (2011); Without Reality There Is No Utopia, CAAC, Seville, Spain (2011) and The World Is Yours, Louisiana Museum, Humlebaek, Denmark (2009). Among the group’s public commissions are Oil Fountain (2012) in Haugesund, Norway, Superkilen (2011) in Copenhagen and Contract: 2000 Watt Society (2010) in Zurich.

SUPERFLEX is the recipient of the 2017 Tate Modern and Hyundai Commission for the Turbine Hall.
