Since 2005, Xu Tan’s ‘Keywords Project’ has explored linguistic activities, collective research, public space and knowledge production through a variety of working methods in his unique art practice.

Biography

‘Searching Keywords’, ‘Keywords School’ and ‘Keywords Lab’ emerged from this project and reflect Xu’s Tan evolving approach to social investigations, research and aesthetic activities as he studies connections between individual thought and collective consciousness.
Selected exhibitions include Searching for keywords about "Neoliberalism", Taipei Contemporary Art Center, Taipei, Taiwan (2011); Possible Vocabulary Games; Xu Tan Language Workshop, OCT Contemporary Art Terminal, Shenzhen, China (2011); Whose Exhibition is it?, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan (2009); Asia Contemporary Art Week: Asian Video Art Seletion, MoMA, New York and Asia Society, New York (2006); Guangzhou Triennial, China (2005) and Venice Biennale (2003, 2009).
