Biography

Encompassing installation as well as drawing, painting and text, Jorinde Voigt’s work is shaped by everyday acts, interaction with her environment and a steady stream of reading. In pursuit of greater subjective insight, Voigt has developed a visual grammatology comprised of straight and curved lines, numbers, words and collage elements. Her graphic system enables her to project objects under investigation into a field of inquiry and interrelation.

Voigt was the recipient of the Dahlmann Preis (2015), Daniel & Florence Guerlain Contemporary Drawing Prize (2012) and Bosch-Rexroth Preis für Junge Kunst (2008). She has also participated in a number of residencies, including the Residenza Artistica Cosenza, I Martedì Critici, Cosenza, Italy (2016); Residenza Fondazione Brivio Sforza, Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte, Milan, Italy (2015) and ISCP International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York (2010). She received a Meisterschüler qualification in fine art and photography (student of Katharina Sieverding), University of the Arts, Berlin (2004) and pursued visual art studies at the Royal College of Art, London as part of the Erasmus European university exchange programme (2001).

Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1977, Voight currently lives and works in Berlin.
