Liu Wei

Biography

Library, 2012, is a dystopian landscape composed of books. The same year, Lui Wei presented a colossal display of wooden relief structures wrapped in heavy-duty pleated canvas, works that are at once painting, sculpture and installation, and yet are none of these. Liu’s recent solo exhibitions include Trilogy, Minsheng Art Museum, Shanghai, China, and Myriad Being, Today Art Museum, Beijing (both 2011).

His work has been featured in numerous group presentations, among which are the Guangzhou Triennial, China (2012, 2008); Dreamlands, Centre Pompidou, Paris, France (2010); China Power Station: Part III, Mudam Luxembourg (2008); Busan Biennale, South Korea (2008); China Power Station: Part II, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, Norway (2007); Biennale de Lyon, France (2007); and the Venice Biennale, Italy (2005).
