Biography
In 1997, Wu Na entered the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and in 2004, she became the first musician in China to receive a master’s degree in guqin performance. She has won numerous awards in guqin competitions and has published an educational book on the instrument.
Trained in both Chinese and Western music, Wu Na has sought to create a new role for the guqin in contemporary music. She has performed and recorded with jazz, rock, experimental and avant-garde musicians, as well as with modern dance and theatre companies, touring throughout Asia and Europe. In 2008, she received a scholarship from the Asian Cultural Council to spend five months in New York researching contemporary American art and music.
