Biography
Gregorio Zanon is a composer, artist and software developer. His recent works merge composition and programming to explore emergent phenomena through the spatialisation, in real or virtual spaces, of multiple real-time sound sources. The resulting aural illusions blur the boundaries we instinctively draw between chaos and form, chance and freedom.
From November 2010 to January 2011, Zanon gave 12 daily performances of an extremely restrictive work, Exercising Limited Freedom, on&on, La Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain. The experience deeply affected him and prompted a shift of focus, from the composition of concert scores to the conception and programming of sophisticated digital systems. This shift started to materialise with uPhase+, a virtual instrument for iPad published in 2012, and End, a musical non-game (2013).
