Challenging disciplinary distinctions, Malek Gnaoui works with printmaking and ceramics alongside installation and video to instil performative qualities in his work. Filmmaker and producer Ala Eddine Slim utilises the absurdity of contemporary events as material for the creation of fictional realities. Combining sound, light, costumes and objects from a prison complex, their collaborative site-specific installation ...عن [about, in Arabic] (2023) is derived from an archive of oral histories from the Tunisian prison system. This iteration of the work is installed within the existing prison cell of the disused courthouse in Khorfakkan (now a Foundation Art Centre) and provides an immersive experience of encounters with a memory archive thought to be lost.
