Overview

Ghadirian is know primarily for her small studio portraits of young women, mostly friends and family, dressed in late nineteenth century Qajar style, juxtaposed with modern daily objects referring to forbidden things. The images illustrate, with dry humour, the paradoxes in the life of young Iranian women, and their subtle defiance. She lives and works in Iran.
