Overview
Liliana Porter’s Man Drawing follows a series of installations by the Artist that depict miniature figurines undertaking hugely disproportionate tasks. A tiny figure of a man standing on a wooden shelf mounted to the wall appears to be in the middle of a giant line drawing that stretches across the gallery wall. It’s a seemingly inconceivable achievement.
Liliana Porter’s work often utilises toys and figurines that she finds in various flea markets and stores. She creates scenes and narratives that emphasise the human and therefore potentially real dimension of the figurines. With Man Drawing she presents a humorous scenario that draws us into empathising with, and relating to, the predicament and colossal achievement of the miniature man.
