Overview
Abbas Kiarostami’s uniquely experimental film, Shirin revolves around a stage production of the twelfth century Persian tale of Khosrow and Shirin. Although we can hear what is happening on the stage, what we see is a series of close-ups of the audience. As the action on stage unfolds it is the audience who become Kiarostami’s characters and their reactions to the play that become the story.
