Overview
Moza Almatrooshi’s research investigates how territorial knowledge has been shaped across time, spanning agricultural practices, imperial impositions and postcolonial realities. Her site-specific installation The
Agriculture School (2022–ongoing) converts the shop spaces and the abandoned abattoir in the Old Al Jubail Vegetable Market into wildlife displays, each one mimicking a specific landscape and hosting a dedicated programme of public sessions with researchers and experts. Two adopted beehives are placed in the old abattoir behind the Market, while the iconic ‘Smile You Are in Sharjah’ sign in the nearby roundabout is replanted with local melliferous plants to be pollinated by the bees.
