Overview
Published alongside Passages through Passages, the survey exhibition by CAMP, a collaborative studio founded in Mumbai in 2007 by Ashok Sukumaran and Shaina Anand, this booklet guides readers through the exhibited video, film and electronic media produced over a two-decade span. The exhibition showcased the spatial, technical and cultural imaginations cultivated by CAMP and was presented amidst the pandemic, against the background of burgeoning nationalisms worldwide. The exhibition included Sharjah-based projects, Radio Meena (2009) and Wharfage (2009), recipients of the grand jury prize at Sharjah Biennial 9 (2009), and From Gulf to Gulf (2009–2013), commissioned by the Foundation’s Production Programme. The booklet includes a Foreword by Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation and curator of the exhibition contextualising CAMP’s practice and its continuing relevance.

CAMP: Passages through Passages
Passages through Passages is a survey exhibition of spatial, technical and cultural imaginations cultivated by CAMP’s work in the past two decades. It comes together at a time of ongoing pandemic and burgeoning nationalisms worldwide when some paths have disappeared and horizons have receded, and when the world needs to be imagined anew.
CAMP: Wharfage
Originally commissioned, published and produced for Sharjah Biennial 9, this book contains two years of port records related to the Somali trade from the Sharjah creek, from where a large number of dhows leave for Somalia.
