Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: A Collective Memory was an exhibition curated by Hoor Al Qasimi that traced the life and work of both artists through a range of drawings, paintings and installations. American artists born in the Soviet Union, their work fuses elements of the everyday with those of the conceptual. This booklet accompanied the exhibition and includes descriptions and visuals of the works that were on view.

Considered among the most significant Russian artist to have emerged in the 20th Century, since 1988 Ilya Kabakov has been working collaboratively with his wife Emila.
Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, established the Foundation in 2009 as a catalyst and advocate for the arts in Sharjah, in the region and around the world.
