This booklet is a record of Sharjah Art Foundation’s exhibition of the artworks, sculptures and rare published documentation of Jordanian artist Mona Saudi. Curated by Hoor Al Qasimi and Noora Al Mualla, the show includes works from the mid-1960s till today, encompassing a large selection of the stone sculptures for which she is best known as well as paintings, drawings and other works on paper inspired by the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish and Adonis. The exhibition highlights Saudi’s exploration of the intertwined relationship between natural material and modern form, expressed through her sculptures of indigenous rocks found in the regions of Jordan and Lebanon.
Sharjah Art Foundation, in collaboration with Sharjah Art Museum, presents a survey of work by artist Mona Saudi.
Mona Saudi is widely recognised for her stone sculptures, which explore the relationship between natural material and modern form.
Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, established the Foundation in 2009 as a catalyst and advocate for the arts in Sharjah, in the region and around the world.
Noora Al Mualla is Director of Learning and Research at Sharjah Art Foundation.
