The Story Converter is an interactive story-recording project by artist Nasir Nasrallah that was shown as part of Sharjah Biennial 11.
Exhibition visitors were invited to write something personal on note-sized cards hidden inside a custom-made box, while they were blindfolded. Nasrallah then used the scrawled texts to create a drawing, by combining the donated material from the visitors with his own experiences and thoughts.
This publication, commissioned by Sharjah Art Foundation, is the print iteration of the artist’s mixed media art project The Story Converter. All cards scrawled with text and drawings made by Nasrallah are compiled and featured in this book.

For artist and curator Nasir Nasrallah, making art is about experimenting with and synthesising materials, be they physical objects, ideas or theorems.
Exhibition visitors are invited to write something personal on cards hidden inside a custom-made box, unable to see as they write.
