Four interlocutors—artist Kader Attia in Dakar, Senegal; curator Lara Khaldi in Ramallah, Palestine; Zeynep Öz in Istanbul, Turkey; and the Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Ashkal Alwan in Beirut, Lebanon—were invited by SB13 curator Christine Tohme to engage in an extended conversation with Sharjah from specific sites within the broader region. The four off-site projects focused on the SB13 keywords water, crops, earth and the culinary, respectively.

Artists Noor Abuarafeh, Iman Issa and Karine Wehbe will contribute to SB13 with commissioned publications, which will be released throughout the year.

Artists Christoph Keller, Metahaven and Zhou Tao have been commissioned to produce works that will be completed over the course of the year.

For SB13 Act II, the concluding exhibition and performance programme of the Biennial, SB13 curator Christine Tohme engaged guest curators Reem Fadda and Hicham Khalidi to conceive two exhibitions in Beirut at the Sursock Musuem and Beirut Art Center, respectively.
