Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) announces itʼs first annual SAF Summer School that will take place from 20 June until 8 July 2013 at SAF Art Spaces in Al Mureijah. The summer programme will give children and young adults the opportunity to discover their artistic creativity while learning about art and culture through workshops, a family concert series, day excursions and a childrenʼs library.
A variety of workshops for children will be offered, including Sculpture, Collage, Watercolour, Printmaking, Performance Art, Drawingand a Darkroom Workshop. In addition to the Childrenʼs Programme, SAF Summer School will offer a series of intensive workshops, discussions and networking opportunities for young adults. The Young Adult Programme features courses that include Artist Statement Writing, Portfolio Review, Exhibition Design and an Art Writing workshop.
The aim of SAF Summer School is to raise sensibilities and understanding of the aesthetics, logic and approaches of contemporary art, as well as to promote and encourage the practice and interaction with its various disciplines and forms. SAF Summer School is part of SAFʼs ongoing Education Programme which focuses on building recognition of the central role art can play in the life of a community by promoting public learning and appreciation while encouraging a participatory approach to art. The compelling programme of workshops, courses and events encourages and promotes looking, thinking and questioning while giving children and young adults the capability to develop their artistic talents.
