Sharjah Art Foundation presents Niki Mukhi Quintet at Vantage Point Sharjah 11 this weekend

Overview

The Niki Mukhi Quintet will perform at the opening of Vantage Point Sharjah 11, Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual photography exhibition. The concert will take place at 8:00 pm on 14 October 2023 at Old Al Diwan Al Amiri in Al Hamriyah, Sharjah.

Known for their dynamic original compositions inspired by flamenco, Indian classical and West African music, the Quintet includes guitar virtuoso and PRS Guitars Pulse Artist Niki Mukhi (India), internationally renowned saxophonist Artur Grigorian (Armenia), tabla maestro Arindam Chakravarty (India), bassist Opoku Sanaa (Ghana) and drummer Ratish Chadha (India).

Among the Quintet’s recent performances are the Dubai Expo World Beats Festival and DXB4BEY, a special fundraiser in partnership with Dubai Opera, the UNHCR and MTV Lebanon. During his extensive career, Mukhi has composed music for international theatre productions, recorded scores for BBC documentaries and performed in over 50 cities with leading international artists.

The Niki Mikhi Quintet performance is part of the autumn music programme organised by Sharjah Art Foundation.

The Foundation’s Music Department fosters leading sound and music discourses by hosting multifaceted performances and knowledge-sharing activities—cross-media programmes include concerts, discussions, alternative education, radio, publishing and archive-building.
