¿Cual es tu cielo?[What is your Sky? (1999)

Overview

Elena Tejada-Herrera introduces ¿Cual es tu cielo? [What is your Sky?] (1999) by Arias & Aragón:

The video work Recuerdo [Memory] (1998), with which Gilda Mantilla and Raimond Chaves invited me, is a very early work of mine. During that time in the 1990s, I was only influenced by what I had direct access to in Peru, since I had not yet travelled overseas. I was inspired by the experimental nature of the work made by the artists Susana Aragón and Adrian Arias. They worked as an artist collective from 1988 to 2002, and in those years made groundbreaking experimental multimedia installations, performances, many videos and interdisciplinary works, all of which contributed significantly to the development of Latin American new media and video art.’

About the work:
In the middle of a city that does not stop moving, two voices wonder, ‘What is your sky?’ The images respond by turning blue and blending into each other to create a surreal atmosphere. Naked bodies, eyes in the foreground, circular shots and a constantly moving camera are some of the many details that ponder this question.
