Biography
Intermedia artist Rheim Alkadhi works with images, text and objects, and references the body as an ongoing index, interposing it in decidedly unfixed conditions. Her work relies on live contexts to generate immediacies and locate collective points of departure.
Alkadhi’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including IM_MOBIILTIES, Galerie KUB, Leipzig (2017); New Narratives: Thinking Economics Differently, Kunstgebäude Stuttgart (2017); 11th Shanghai Biennale (2016); Sites of Return, Qalandiya International, Ramallah (2016); do it بالعربي [in Arabic], Sharjah Art Foundation (2016); 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane (2015); Sharjah Biennial 12 (2015); Here and Elsewhere, New Museum, New York (2014); dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel (2012), and the Jerusalem Show (2012).
Alkadhi was awarded a grant from Mophradat, Brussels (2017) and a fellowship in visual art at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, Italy (2017) and at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (2016), where she developed and performed the live work Köln Phantasm. She has developed works in residence with the Ramallah Municipality, West Bank (2016); at the Autonomous Cultural Center, Weimar (2016); A.i.R, Art Dubai, Dubai (2015) and Sharjah Art Foundation (2014), among others.
She is currently based in Berlin.
