Biography
Yu-ichi Inoue was a member of the Bokujin group of calligraphers, founded in 1952, and edited the monthly magazine of the same name.
His work has been shown at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (1967); Kunst und Museumseverein Wuppertal, Germany (1965); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1955, 1963); São Paulo Bienal (1957, 1961); dOCUMENTA, Kassel, Germany (1959); Palais International des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, Belgium (1958); Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland (1955) and the Museum of Modern Art, New York (1954).
