Overview
Hana Miletić explores conditions of scarcity and indifference through their residue and trace in the built environment.
For SB13, the artist presents a project grounded in her weaving practice that allows her not only to connect with a craft rooted in her family’s female genealogy but also to engage with contemporary social realities. In photography, she captures evidence of damage and neglect around her. The process of translating her subject from life to an image and finally into a woven medium underscores her intention of care and a repositioning of these found objects in the public eye through presentations of her work in exhibition spaces. As she is mindful of the systemic patterns of neglect that contribute to the derelict conditions she photographs, her subjectivity meets her surroundings through the intimate repetition of weaving borne out of habits of concern.
This project was part of Sharjah Biennial 13.
