The second book in the Still Life: Art, Ecology and the Politics of Change series, documents Sharjah Biennial 8 as it was on view. It constitutes a companion to the exhbition catalogue, which was published to coincide with the Biennial’s opening. Essays from Jack Persekian, Rene Gabri, Anneka Lenssen, Sergio Vega and Cornelia Parker, narrate the experience of encountering the Biennial firsthand.
Part of this publication is given over to transcripts of symposium lectures that were programmed in conjunction with Sharjah Biennial 8. An additional text from Felix Guattari is reprinted in this publication (also translated into Arabic for the first time) to further contextualise the Biennial’s concern for how we address and understand some of the ecological challenges confronting the world today.
