Overview
"10 Commandments for the 21st Century" is a 10-point list of simple rules of behaviour. If put into action, these wishes and rules could slow down and gradually erase some parts of the ecological disaster caused by human population.
The project refers to currently used technical solutions – not to the possibly better ideas of the future. In the best- case scenario, the future viewers of this artwork will find our current problems and these 10 rules of behaviour ridiculous, and evidence of our backwardness at this point in history around the year 2000, when human beings had not yet found an environmentally sustainable lifestyle.
The aim of the project is to awaken discussion and to appeal to the viewers’ personal feelings of responsibility. It can also relieve the confusion, brought about by ecological issues, by recommending simple actions for everyday life.
This project was part of Sharjah Biennial 8.
